She felt super warm so I played Dr. mom again and took her temperature (so glad I invested the money in the 6 second digital thermometer!!!) and gave her some medicine and water. Then we headed downstairs since Camden got up and she laid on the couch.....and stayed there the WHOLE DAY. She did not get of of the couch. She only sat up once to eat some jell-o - her only real food she ate all day. She did have a few tiny popcicles but other than that - no appetite.
She was coughing like crazy, in and out of sleep all day, and just all around cranky! 5:30 rolls around and she was coughing even harder and so I thought we needed to take her to the Dr. Tonight, luckily, they were open to 8 so we got in her in. I was worried she may be getting pneumonia. I was hoping that what she had was significant enough to at least get her some antibiotics. Well, she has a double ear infection. Antibiotics to the rescue. And the Dr. said that she doesn't have pneumonia but the antibiotics will treat that as well. Ok so I can rest easy now that she will have some medicine that will hopefully kick this sickness out of her. But leading up to that here is how our night went...
I call Chris while he is on his way home from work telling him I think we should make an appointment. He says to set it up so I call and do that. Meanwhile, Alex is still on the couch coughing up a lung and Camden is yawning because he didn't have an afternoon nap and is ready for bed. I go upstairs, give Camden a bath...that is a task in itself because unlike Alex he tries to crawl all over the tub and stand up. So bathing has become pretty hard! Well he is done and Chris gets home. I have Camden in the towel and Chris says "We need to get Alex in her clothes if she's going to the Dr." (She was laying in her undies downstairs!) I rush upstairs with a toweled Camden in my arms and get her PJ's to wear and run downstairs and Chris gets Alex dressed while she is crying hard. I stand Camden next to the couch and his towels fall off so there he is standing naked. I'm frantically writing notes for Chris to mention to the Dr - this was actually his first time going to our pediatrician.
As I am writing, Chris says "Why is 1000 ways to die on tv???" and he looks over to see a naked Camden with a remote in his mouth changing the channel. We both just laughed and he took Alex to the dr. I took Camden up to bed hoping he doesn't pee on me!
We get upstairs and of course as I am trying to put on a diaper he is flipping and flopping - an every diaper chance occurrence these days. Finally I got him in bed!
Oh what a night!
We started the dose of antibiotics and had Alex sleep in our room again last night. We just wanted to keep a close eye on her. She kept talking in her sleep but the funniest thing was she was saying her ABC's in her sleep. Too funny!
Never a dull moment - even when we are sleeping- around here!
