Our First Library Time

A few weeks ago on a Friday I took Alexandra to the local library in Kennett Square, which is a charming little town about 10 minutes away, for Toddler Story Time. The story time consisted of about 6 books (we missed 1 or 2) but that is to be expected with 2-3 year olds. We went in and downstairs to the kids library and it was really neat in there. Alexandra was amazed at all of the big colorful beanbags, over-sized pillows, gigantic stuffed animals, and just the colorful environment. Alex didn't really even want to listen to the stories the first day (or I hope it was just today) because she was so excited. After we sat for the story time some of the kids got on computers and Alexandra and I just explored the kid's library. I can imagine that in a year Alexandra will be on one of the computers. The way she is with my iphone I can imagine that she will catch on quickly. We did work on a few puzzles and then headed out. I got a library card as we left so next time we go we will sign out some books. I am hoping to make this a Friday ritual.

I noticed when we came out that there was an ice cream store across the street from the library and that they open at 11 am. Story time is at 10 and today we left at 10:45. I am thinking though that part of our Friday ritual should be story time, taking home some books, and then of course on some days homemade ice cream right after!

Later today we also checked out the farmer's market down the road. I guess I was expecting something a little bigger and I did go an hour and a half before it was over but there were only 4 stands - 2 with veggies/fruit, 1 baked goods, 1 honey, and one from a local cafe. I guess I was expecting something a little bigger but hey they did have cheap veggies! I ended up getting a few green peppers and squash and next time I think I may try to get some tomatoes and fruit.
