Yo Ho Let's Go!

Alexandra loves the show Jake and the Neverland Pirates. As we were watching the show I was also thinking of Alex's birthday coming up. We are hosting playgroup on her birthday and so I am going to do a little playgroup party for her birthday. Well I was asking her what "kind" of party she wants - princess, animal, or pirates. She loved the idea of pirates. I loved it too - but really like she would care if we did princesses or animals or some other theme instead - she's only going to be 3.

So I started looking online at different ideas to do. Now it's during playgroup so the kids will spend most of the time just playing but I thought we could hand out some accessories like pirate hats, gold doubloons, etc. I also thought we could do a craft, and I would make some pirate cupcakes or cake pops. All of these ideas are going through my head! I mean the kids are 3 so they will be excited about anything. So a few days ago we had a"pirate day" and I made Alexandra a pirate hat, a hook like Captain Hook, a "P is for pirate" picture, and a treasure map. Alex was so excited. She still asks me to be Captain Hook and wear her hat. Tonight for a good 15 minutes she ran circles around the house as I wore the hook pretending to get her.

It was so sweet as we were doing the pirate picture she said "Mommy, I love doing crafts with you!" It was lots of fun and I'm glad that little things like that can make her so excited!

It was hard getting her to look at the camera - but this is the "P is for Pirate" picture

Check out her tongue sticking out - you can tell that she is concentrating

The hook I made for Alex - a plastic cup from a restaurant (I always save them) and tin foil - so easy!

And a pirate hat made of newspaper. Argh! Gotta love this - a pirate in princess Pj's (now that is alot of P's)
