37 Week Appointment

This is me about the same time with Alexandra

This is 37 weeks with the boy.........I think he is lower!

Now that I am going to weekly appointments I got checked for the first time to see if I am making any progress. I normally arrive at my appointments right on time because I still wait in the waiting room for 5 minutes or so. Well for this appointment I was 10 minutes early - not a good thing when you have a 2.5 year old who has been going from place to place since 9 am and who hasn't had a nap! Well she wasn't really misbehaving but was just antsy that's all. She was going from chair to chair, just using a louder voice than usual, and well, keeping her entertained was becoming difficult. When we first got into the patient room I had to get my blood pressure taken and it was super high! (I have NEVER had high blood pressure during either pregnancy) and I know the cause - I was getting worked up over Alex's behavior, even though it really wasn't that bad. I am just so used to her being so calm, cool, and collected in the doctor's office that she threw me for a loop today. So the nurse said she would come back and take it again since it has never been high. When she came back in and took it again it was normal.

Well then I got checked out and the doctor said that I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. She said since I was 37 weeks (full term!!) that anytime is fine to have the baby. So now I suppose it's just a waiting game. I'm still just hoping that the timing all works out since we have to figure out what to do with Alexandra. If he decides to wait until at least the 25th that would be good since my mom will be coming down.

At this point I have been having Braxton Hicks contractions, something I never felt with Alex. Of course it's just at that uncomfortable stage now since my belly is so big! Well here is hoping that I make some progress at my next appointment this week. And this time we will be staying in and Alex can play all she wants before the appointment so that when we actually get there I won't be having high blood pressure!!!
