Luckily I had lots of candles and was able to light up the downstairs pretty well. At first Alex said "Mommy turn on the lights" and I had to explain to her what happened. Chris got home soon after the power went off with Wendy's for dinner. We had a candlelight dinner as a family. Then Alex just wanted to play so she and Chris played in her dark playroom! haha. They did just find though. I had bought these battery powered LED lights a while back because I wanted to put lights under my cabinets in the kitchen but the LED light was too "white" and I wanted something a little softer. Well those lights came in handy. Alex carried one around (along with her new monkey toy I just got her last week that has a flashlight in it). So we stayed downstairs until about 8:15 or so and then headed upstairs.
We were only up there for a few minutes when Alex said she wanted to go to bed (this is a first!) so we went up to her completely dark room and used those LED lights to read. I put her in her warmest winter PJ's with socks (and she never wears socks to bed) and she was fine. I was worried that the house was going to get super cold. Luckily she has a nice warm comforter, fleece blanket and sheet in her bed, whereas on her toddler bed she just had the baby quilt which usually fell off of her (and her old room was always the coldest room in the house!) Now that she is on the third floor it is pretty warm.
Each night before bed she has some milk and a snack before brushing teeth and she likes it warm. She was upset that she couldn't have warm milk. She did end up drinking it though. She then went to sleep with the LED light in her hand and I just went up to get it later once I knew she was asleep.
Chris and I laid down at like 9:30 for bed (that is early for me!) so I played around on my phone and got an email from my neighbor saying her husband talked to PECO and they said no power until 3:30 AM on the 4th (as in we thought we would have no power Thursday). I had planned on going up to Nana's if that was the case and I would take Alex and stay until Friday or Sunday since snow is expected Saturday. Well luckily, to my surprise, I got up to go to the bathroom at 12:30 and the power came back on! Phew! I went downstairs to turn everything off that was on before and then of course I couldn't get back to sleep for about another hour or so. Oddly enough I am not really sleepy today. That may change later in the afternoon! Alex slept very well too which was a blessing!
So now today, it's Thursday and power is on, and we actually got out of the house too to go to the grocery store. It was nice to get out since we have been cooped up since Monday!
