"38" Week Appointment

When you are pregnant it's kind of confusing. I am 37 weeks and 5 days pregnant (2 weeks 2 days left) yet I am considered "in" my 38th week. But anyways - I had another weekly appointment today. Last week I was 1 cm and 50% effaced. Today I was still 1 cm but 70% effaced. The doctor said that the baby's head was pretty far down (and today actually I feel A LOT of pressure and feel like if I keep walking around he may pop out! haha) and said that when I start to go into labor don't dilly dally around - get to the hospital! My labor with Alex was short so this one may be even shorter! I am hoping he at least waits until next Thursday to make his entrance since my mom will be coming down. My biggest worry at this point is what to do if something happens in the middle of the night.

I was asking the doctor about dilation and effacement and said that last week I was 1 cm but 50% - she said I am thinning out and said that then after you are thinned that is when you start dilating faster. So I am glad I am making progress with effacement even though I am still only 1 cm dilated. I know that could happen quick though because with Alex I went to the hospital and was 5 cm when I was hooked up to monitors and then within 3 hours I dilated the other 5 cm.

Today after my appointment I made a quick stop to Wal-Mart to get a few things for my bag for the hospital and today I am going to put all of my bags into my car to have them there "just in case" and Chris just needs to put the car seat in my car. And even if we have to get to the hospital right away he could always put it in once we get there and have the baby. Other than that - we are ready for this baby!
