On August 11 Camden turned 5 months old. For some reason his months seem to be going a lot faster than Alex's - maybe it's because I'm so busy with two kids that time never seems to stop. I am just loving this age. It's where you really get to see their personalities and I think Camden has an awesome personality. He is the happiest baby that I think I've seen! He really only ever cries if his tummy hurts or if he is overdue to eat. He is always smiling and now...........giggling and laughing.
Here are some things that Camden is doing at 5 months:
- laughing out loud (has been doing since 4 months but now he snorts!)
- blowing raspberries
- he has tried a few more foods
- he can sit unsupported for a few seconds - still slumped over but he can balance for a few seconds
- he always holds his bottle when I give him one. Soon I think he will be able to hold it on his own
- he is chewing on EVERYTHING - still no teeth but they should be coming soon
- he still grabs at everything too. No more jewelry for me. And reading books with him on my lap is getting very tricky because he wants to eat them.
- In his tub he kicks like crazy. When I sit him up to wash his back he doesn't want to lay back down. He's also getting too long for the tub. Soon we're going to need to take out the infant sling.
- He's been sleeping really well - up to 11 hours at night and has been napping decently too (on most days!)
- When I say "how big is Camden?" I hold his arms up and he just wants to stand when I do that. He still supports his weight very well on his legs.
- he also has started using a pacifier at times. The good thing is that he doesn't HAVE to have it but it is something for him to suck/chew on. He doesn't object if I take it away but he can use it to help soothe him.
- I've also been laying him down awake most nights and he's been falling asleep on his own..........now to get him to do that for naps.
Camden also had some firsts recently:
- first trip to the beach
- first amusement park ride - the carousel at Dutch Wonderland
I can't wait to see what he will be doing from now until he turns six months old!
